Sunshineatthebeach braved a brisk evening on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Century Mile with a front-end trip to victory in the $11,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 Pace.

Sunshineatthebeach, driven by Phil Giesbrecht, drew post five in the field of five, but that was no problem as she set sail towards the top. Giesbrecht kept the margin at 1-1/2 lengths between himself and the field as they hit the fractions in :27.3, :56 and 1:25. Sunshineatthebeach never looked back turning for home and scored by a measured length in 1:54.2. Red N Ready (Brandon Campbell) charged from third to finish second over pocket-sitting Goodbye Ceia Later (Mike Hennessy).

The nine-year-old daughter of Sunshine Beach and the Shadow Play mare Yoselin Seelster won her second straight start for her new connections, trainer Travis Ellis and Manitoba owners Aurel Vodon and Trevor Williams. Sunshineatthebeach moved her seasonal score to 2-1-0 in six starts and her career tally to 26-29-28 in 194 starts. Her career sum now reads $337,020. She paid $3 to win.

Brandon Campbell made his return to the bike on Wednesday after being sidelined due to a surgery to remove a piece of a disc that was pressing on a nerve. The Calgary, Alta. resident drove five of his own on the card, including Red N Ready, who finished second in the feature.
