Moments Of Joy made all the pace on her way to a 27-1 upset in Wednesday's (Feb. 12) $27,500 Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs.
The six-year-old daughter of Western Terror left quickly to establish control in a :27.2 first quarter before driver Victor Kirby nursed a :29.1 second split. Up the backstretch, Baron Remy was first to pull and pressed Moments Of Joy to three-quarters in 1:24 while being tracked by 1-5 favourite Major Occasion A.
In the stretch, Moments Of Joy maintained her strong pace, winning by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:51.4 over pocket rival Valuable Art. Bettor Joy N closed from last to capture third, while Major Occasion A failed to fire off second-over cover and finished a non-threatening fourth.
