OSS Grad Takes Dover’s Top Trot

Traverse Seelster continued his reputation as top trotter at the Dover Downs by chalking up his third victory in Wednesday’s $20,000 Open Trot Handicap.

With Callahan in the bike, Traverse Seelster took the lead at the opening quarter and led the rest of the way. Green Day (Vic Kirby), a career winner in excess of $1.3 million, was a strong second this week. Cash On Delivery (Vince Copeland), in only his second start of the New Year, came on to finish third. The winning time was 1:53.2.

Trained by Josh Green for owner Keith Pippi, the Angus Hall-Travelin Lavec six-year-old gelding and upped his lifetime earnings to $442,061.

Corey Callahan drove four winners on the care while Ron Pierce had a driving triple. Trainer Leigh Raymer had a three-win day of her own.
