Last month, Trot Insider ran a story about trainer Brad Maxwell’s son, Brandon, being selected to represent the United States in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Brandon, a 26-year-old goalie, has spent the past three years playing professionally in the Czech Republic. Prior to his stint overseas, Brandon spent three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), one with the University of Guelph. He also proved victorious in his lone appearance in net for the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL during the 2014-15 season.
“Being a part of the Olympic team for me is the ultimate honour and privilege you can have in sports. It’s something you dream about from a young age,’ Brandon has told the Orlando Sentinel.

Echoing his son’s sentiments, Brad said that when Brandon was growing up, “All he wanted to do was play hockey. Go to school and play hockey. That was his whole life.’’
On Wednesday (February 14), the United States Olympic Men’s Hockey Team will debut at the South Korea games in a match-up with Slovenia.
