"My dad's got a couple of horses [in southern Ontario] now so I'd like to stick up here, drive back and forth and just try to win as many races as I can."
Trot Insider caught up with Brett MacDonald after the two-time Future Star nominee broke through to capture national honours at the 2017 O'Brien Awards Black Tie Gala on Saturday, February 3 in Mississauga, Ont.
In only his third season of full time driving, MacDonald posted some very impressive numbers, driving 114 winners and horses to more than $616,000 in purse money. The 21-year-old resides in Manotick, Ont., on the south side of the nation's capital, and competes regularly at Rideau Carleton Raceway as well as Kawartha Downs. However, expect to see more of MacDonald at tracks in southern Ontario in 2018.
This is the seventh in a series of several post-event video interviews with O'Brien Award finalists, sponsored by Horse Racing Alberta.
