Driver Stuart Sowerby will be sidelined after he was unseated in a single-horse accident that occurred just past the half-mile marker during the ninth race at Flamboro Downs on Saturday afternoon

.

Hopetostrykeitrich was racing in third along the pylons as the field rounded the clubhouse turn past the half when the incident took place. The horse appeared to get rough-gaited and fell, tossing Sowerby from the sulky. The trailing horses managed to avoid collision.

According to Sowerby's wife Kristen, Stu broke some bones in one hand, suffered a cut above one eye and possibly some broken ribs. Sowerby will be seeing a surgeon on Monday but early estimates put him on the shelf for four to six weeks.

Trainer Kyle Reibeling confirmed with Trot Insider that Hopetostrykeitrich was fine following the incident.

Trot Insider will provide updates on this story when available.
