Trainer Mark Winacott recently registered a major milestone for wins and he picked up more year-end hardware at Kawartha Downs

for being that track’s leading trainer. There’s no time for celebrating, though, there’s more races to be won.

Winacott notched three more wins on Tuesday at Kawartha Downs, and in doing so watched his yearly win total climb to 25.

He joined forces with Gord Brown, the 2008 Driver of the Year at Kawartha Downs, to win the opener with Stepaside Larry (1:57.2) and the fourth race with Island Of Luck (1:59.3). Mark’s son, Chad, helped him complete the training hat trick by guiding Autocrat (2:02) to a gate-to-wire win in the eighth race.

Winacott, who is annually one of the nation’s leading trainers in the UTR category, started the day with a .466 UTR. While maintaining a lifetime UTR of .424, he has banked close to $4.8 million in the process.
