Soho Burning Love A tipped off cover and cruised to a 1:50.3 victory in the $20,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace on Wednesday night (Dec. 9) at Dover Downs.
Driver Tim Tetrick changed tactics from last week, racing the six-year-old daughter of Auckland Reactor N from off the pace, and the move paid off.
Stonebridge Soul left alertly to control early fractions of :26.2 and :55.3. Past the half, Andy McCarthy pulled Machnhope first-over, and Soho Burning Love A drafted perfectly into a 1;23.1 three-quarter split. At the top of the stretch, Soho Burning Love A left her cover and surged three-wide to win by 1-1/4 lengths as the 3-5 favourite. Machnhope was second; Marloe Hanover (Victor Kirby) picked up third.
Jim King Jr. trains Soho Burning Love A for owners Richard Poillucci and Jo Ann Looney-King.
Tetrick drove four winners on the night.
