The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has penned a report which briefly outlines the efforts that St. John's Racing and Entertainment has made in recent years to land casino gaming at its harness racing facility in Goulds, Newfoundland.
The CBC article cites a 2012 government briefing note which states that the SJRE proposed operating the casino, which would have been overseen by the government
The report states that under the SJRE proposal, the government would have recouped its investment in the endeavour after five months of operations at the facility.
The article states that in addition to the 2012 proposal, the SJRE also pitched a racino proposal to the government in 2007.
