Spend It All, the only three-year-old in Monday’s $20,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace, beat the older horses for the duo of driver Jim Morand and trainer Les Givens at Dover Downs.
Jeremes Sweetheart left quickly and set the early fractions, but Spend It All was best in the stretch for a 1:52.2 victory in the week’s top distaff event. Jeremes Sweetheart held on for second, with longshot Eighthunrdolarbill finishing third.
Winbak Speed, who was sent off at odds of 11-1, turned in a 1:53.3 surprise in the $15,000 sub-feature for driver Allan Davis. Wayne Givens conditions the Riverboat King-Speedy Towner chestnut for Bay Pond Racing. Air Miles Hanover was the runner-up, in front of Valerya.
Driver Morand and Trainer Les Givens teamed up for a two-year-old filly winner Queens Destiny in the first, Get The Look in the eighth, Spend It All in the tenth and Mach Lady in the twelfth. Two of the winners are owned by Nanticoke Racing.
