The win streak is now eight and counting for Perfect M Forever, who turned in a flawless performance to take home top prize in Tuesday’s $26,000 Fillies & Mares Open at Dover Downs.
The Ohio-bred three-year-old daughter of Stand Forever, who was a dominant force on the Ohio Fair circuit this earlier this season, has continued her winning way since making the move East for the KFJ Stables of Xenia, OH.
Perfect M Forever and driver Eric Goodell nestled into an early five-hole while Shady Sabrina stepped to the field to the quarter pole in a snappy clocking of :26.1.
Goodell hit the throttle in the straightaway and cruised to command before the mid-way point. Perfect M Forever was immediately challenged by Ladyfield, who pushed the even-money favourite to the half in :55.3. Perfect Forever drove off in the backstretch, however, and tripped the teletimer at the three-quarter maker in 1:24.
She used a :29.1 final frame to seal the deal in a time of 1:53.1. Ladyfield managed to hold on to the runner-up spot over a late-driving Faithfully, who grabbed third prize in the eight-horse affair.
Josh Green conditions the photogenic filly, who won for the 15th time in 24 starts this season. She has banked $108,157 this year.
