Monticello Raceway has announced the scheduling of the Monticello Marathon, a trotting race to be contested at a distance of one and three-quarter miles, as its feature race on Monday, December 15.
According to a release sent out today, the posted purse is somewhere between $5,000 and $7,500, "depending on the calibre of the entrants." The entry box for the race will close at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10.
Anyone interested in entering can still do so by calling Monticello Raceway's director of Racing, Eric Warner, at 845-794-4100 (Ext. 557).
Monticello's December Schedule
Whether the Monticello Marathon fills or not, Monday, December 15 begins 10 consecutive race cards at 'the Mighty M.'
The streak will continue through Wednesday, December 24. Programs will be raced on Friday, December 19, Saturday, December 20, and Sunday, December 21.
Christmas Day, December 25 will be a dark day, but racing will then continue with live cards on Friday, December 26 and Saturday, December 27.
There will be no racing on Sunday, December 28.
The month will close out with three racing programs from Monday, December 29 through Wednesday, December 31. There will be three consecutive cards to kick off the new year (January 1, 2 and 3).
