Hoboken Hanover staged a four-wide rally from the backfield around the final turn and got up just in time to win the $6,500 Preferred 3 Pace on Sunday night at Flamboro Downs.

With Billy Davis Jr. aboard for his third driving win of the night, Hoboken Hanover prevailed by a neck in 1:56 flat over Mach It Big (Robert Shepherd) after following that rival's cover wide and out-sprinting him down the stretch. Risky Rich (Jonathan Drury) finished three lengths behind in third off a pocket trip while favourite Bolero Charles (Luc Ouellette) faded to fourth after leading through fractions of :27.3, :56.3 and 1:26. First over Web Cam (Bruce Richardson) earned the final paycheque in fifth.

The win was Hoboken Hanover's seventh of the season from 35 starts and lifted his 2013 earnings to $43,940. Sent postward as the 5-2 second choice in the field, he returned $7 to his backers.

Jason McGinnis trains and co-owns the six-year-old Cams Card Shark gelding with Toronto's Jeffrey Wellwood.
