Odds-on choice Better Watch It cruised on the lead and effortlessly scooted clear of her rivals to win the $9,100 featured pace going an added distance at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday (Dec. 7).
Driver Brett MacDonald secured command with the three-year-old Hes Watching filly to a :28.1 first quarter as Seel The Dark broke stride while racing uncovered. Regaining stride, Seel The Dark applied loose first-over pressure to the pacesetter through a :57.4 before retreating up the backside as MacDonald let his charge loose. Better Watch It opened three lengths on the field to three-quarters in 1:27.4 and widened her advantage through the lane, crossing the beam 5-1/4-lengths better than Greystone Treasure while stopping the clock in 2:04.4. Pacingdownadream finished third and Shes Got Luck finished another six lengths behind in fourth.
Owned by Ryan Clements and David Deighton, Better Watch It won her fourth race from 14 starts, pushing her earnings to $16,621. She paid $3.70 to win.
