Trot Insider has learned that Ontario Sires Stakes graduate Divas Image has been sold and retired, and will start broodmare duty for her new owner in 2020.
A six-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight - Rocknroll Diva, Divas Image made 78 lifetime starts and won 24 times. She took a mark of 1:49f last year at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono while accruing $647,987 in career purses earnings.
After finding success in the OSS program at two and three, Divas Image made the successful transition to open company and competed against harness racing's best older pacing mares. Her biggest win came in the $189,750 Golden Girls at The Meadowlands where she defeated the division's best.
Trainer Jenn Bongiorno admitted mixed emotions in bidding farewell to Divas Image.
"Super bittersweet," said Bongiorno. "She’s been so so good to us and will always hold such a special place in my heart. I love her personality and she’s as tough as they come on the track. She’s battled issues this year and we knew it was time for her to become a mom! She deserves the chance to be a good broodmare."
Bongiorno isn't alone in that assessment. Divas Image was owned by Joseph Bongiorno LLC, Howard Taylor, Thomas Lazzaro and J And T Silva Stables LLC and was purchased privately by Adam Bowden's Diamond Creek Farm. Bowden told Trot Insider that Divas Image will be bred in 2020 to Captaintreacherous.
