London Preferred To Tendtowin

The photo finish camera came in very handy to help declare a winner in Monday’s $8,300 Preferred 3 for horses and geldings at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

After the ORC Judges reviewed the picture it was declared Tendtowin was the winner, but only by a narrow margin.

Cliff Drummond shot to the front and sliced out an opening quarter in :26.3 before being prompted through middle panels of :56.4 and 1:26 by the first-over Tendtowin. A nose separated the two of them at the head of the lane, and just a head separated Tendtowin from a late-driving Kinmundys Stryker at the wire in 1:56.1. Oldfriendskentucky took home the show dough.

Paul MacKenzie mapped out the winning trip for the Sym Pryjma trainee. Seaspray Stables Ltd of Nanaimo, BC owns the five-year-old son of No Pan Intended-Garden Gate Crème. It was his fourth win of the year and the 25th of his career. The lion’s share of Monday’s loot lifted his career cash stash to $131,228.
