No Contest In WFR Opener

A scary incident occurred in the first race at Western Fair Raceway on Monday, and in the end it forced the ORC Judges to declare the tilt a “no contest”

.

Trot Insider learned that Enduring Spirit suffered a broken bit shortly after the start of the race and veered to the outside of the racetrack. Driver Doug McNair bailed off the racebike when it looked as though the gelding was going to hit the starting gate which was following the field around the track.

Most of the drivers eventually pulled up as Enduring Spirit spun around and ran head on towards the field. The loose horse was later corralled and the race was declared a “no contest”. Driver Doug McNair and Enduring Spirit both came away from the incident unscathed.
