Real Beauty used a beautiful burst of late stretch speed to score by a neck for the second consecutive week in the $17,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on Sunday afternoon at Fraser Downs.
B Bar Marilyn (Tim Brown) was the early leader rolling out fractions of :28.3 and :57.2 while Real Beauty and trainer/driver David McKellar sat at the back of the five-horse field. The odds-on favourite angled to the outside en route to the 1:26 third quarter station as Furious Five (Billy Davis, Jr.) advanced to the top from third. With :28.2 final frame, Real Beauty blasted home to snatch the win in 1:54.4.
Furious Five was right there for second and Adorable Killean (David Hudon) rounded out the top three.
The four-year-old Camluck mare, who is owned by Robert Murphy of Surrey, B.C., scored her 17th career win and bumped her earnings to $263,080.
