Favourites Sheswildnfree and Rose Run Victory forged their way to the front and each never looked back, the former winning the $53,500 Harvest Series Trot and the latter winning the $52,300 Harvest Series Pace on Saturday (Dec. 5) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Sheswildnfree fought off all her challengers as the 4-5 choice. Clearing command past a :28.3 opening quarter, Sheswildnfree bore first-over pressure from LMC Bumble Bee through a :57.2 half and to three-quarters in 1:27, where Jula Shes Magic shifted three wide from second over. Jula Shes Magic dug into Sheswildnfree through the stretch as the pair scooted five lengths clear of LMC Bumble Bee in third, but Sheswildnfree maintained a half-length advantage to the finish of a 1:55.2 mile.
A homebred for Thomas and Elizabeth Rankin, Sheswildnfree won her second race from 16 starts, earning $46,208. Ben Baillargeon conditions the Muscle Mass filly while Sylvain Filion drove the $3.50 to win.
Rose Run Victory, as the 3-5 choice, managed to grab command despite her second-tier starting spot. Driver Ed Hensley circled the Shadow Play filly to the front after a :28.2 opening quarter and pocketed Big Myrtle up the backstretch. By the half in :58, Rose Run Victory began to accelerate moving for the final turn while Lyons Tilt Hanover advanced uncovered but stalled approaching three-quarters in 1:25.3. Rose Run Victory continued to roll off the turn to gain separation from Big Myrtle, hitting the finish four-and-a-half lengths in front and stopping the clock in 1:53.1. Lyons Tilt Hanover held third.
Owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Phillip Collura, Rose Run Victory won her fifth race from 30 starts, earning $112,101. Ashleigh Hensley trains the $3.30 winner.
