The story of Alluring Lombo is a unique one when you take into account she made a combined 37 starts during her freshman and sophomore campaigns before being sent to the breeding shed and delivering a trio of foals. After a four-year absence from the track the mare is back to the races, and back to her winning ways
.
Alluring Lombo, an eight-year-old daughter of Million To One-Lombo Vision, put together a 6-4-3 record in her first two years of racing before being successfully bred to Modern Art, Northern Luck and Lombo Mandingo. From those matings she produced a pair of male youngsters and a filly.
Her career of being a mother was a short one considering she was put back in training before returning to the races last August. She made a single start in 2010, and it wasn’t anything to write home about. This year was a different story, however, as the mare has picked up a win and a second-place finish from her first two starts of the season. She was second in her 2011 debut in Australia at Albury before notching her first win in more than four years at Tabcorp Park in Melton, Australia last weekend.
Leigh Sutton mapped out the winning trip for the multi-talented Zac Cornell-trained mare. The biggest wins of her career – a heat of the Australian Pacing Gold at Harold Park and the Breeders Crown Consolation at Ballarat – were both earned during her freshman campaign.
