Upset Over Loto-Quebec Website

The BC Lottery Corp. hit some pretty major snags when it went live with its online gambling website earlier this year. Although Loto-Quebec's recently-launched site didn't have massive glitches when it went live, it has caused a stir with anti-gambling advocates

.

A report by QMI Agency explains that anti-gambling advocates have said that the website -- espacejeux.com -- will plague problem gamblers. The Quebec government retorted by saying the site is a regulated alternative to offshore gaming websites.

“Since this government refuses to listen to the advice of public health or citizens, we’re forced to demand that all people 55 and over reject Loto-Quebec’s new offering,” said Madelaine Michaud, spokesperson for an association representing retired public-service employees. Michaud was cited as saying that baby boomers are especially avid gamblers.

Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corp. also announced this year that it is planning on launching a legalized gaming website.
