On July 15, the BC Lottery Corp. launched its brand new online gambling website. Just hours after going online, the site went offline after it was found that some users could see other users' personal information. After being offline for more than a month, the site went back online last night

.

As a report by The Vancouver Sun explains that the security breach affected the personal information of 134 players, and that 12 players had their personal information on playnow.com exposed to other users.

The article cites BCLC president and CEO Michael Graydon as saying that shutting down the website cost BCLC $150,000 a day in revenue for a total revenue loss of over $5 million. An outside investigation with an unreported cost also took place after the security issues arose.

“I don’t think there’s any question that we have to work hard to rebuild that trust,” Graydon was quoted as saying.
