Intheblinkofaneye made his Georgian Downs debut a winning one while extending his current streak to four for Team Allard in Wednesday evening's featured $15,000 Preferred 2 Pace.
With Simon Allard in the sulky for his brother, trainer and owner Rene Allard, inside starter Intheblinkofaneye settled away third behind early leavers Wild Dragon (Brad Forward) and Lonesome Attack (Billy Davis Jr.), who posted early splits of :26.4 and :54.4. As the field raced down the backstretch to three-quarters in 1:23, Wild Dragon surged to command with favourite Intheblinkofaneye hot on his heels. Intheblinkofaneye took over the lead in the stretch and opened up nearly three lengths on his foes to win in 1:52 flat. Dreamfair Kovu (Tony Kerwood), the 126-1 longest shot on the board, came flying home from the back of the pack to place over Wild Dragon while the early leader faded to seventh.
Intheblinkofaneye, who won his last three starts at Rideau Carleton Raceway, returned $4.10 to his backers this time out. The seven-year-old Cole Muffler gelding now sports a solid record reading 10-7-2 in 22 seasonal starts with 2012 earnings of $136,300.
The win in the 10th race feature completed a driving hat trick for Simon and a training double for Rene. Canada's leading conditioner Richard Moreau also recorded three victories on the 11-race card.
