Jett Propelled lived up to 1-20 billing in the second of two $28,169 first-round preliminary divisions of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders' Fund (DSBF) series for three-year-old pacing fillies at Bally's Dover, extending her win streak to three with a 1:55.3 score on Wednesday (Dec. 4).
In line to Jason Thompson, the Roddys Bags Again-Jett Away filly seated 22-1 third choice Bad Nella Monella (driven by Montrell Teague) in the pocket through a :27 first quarter before backing the tempo down dramatically through a :58 half. After picking up the pace to three-quarters in 1:26.2 under mild first-over pressure from American Marvel (Tony Morgan), Jett Propelled sped away to defeat Bad Nella Monella by 3-1/4 lengths. Slipinsidewayz (Victor Kirby) made a mild late bid to narrowly miss the runner-up spot.
Jett Propelled, now a 10-time winner with $235,927 in career earnings, competes as a homebred for owner-trainer Robert Shahan. She paid $2.10 to win.
In the first division, Amelia Maximus and driver Barton Dalious brushed to the fore after Smalltown Bad Girl (Tim Tetrick) clicked off a :28.1 first quarter, and then rated middle splits of :59.2 and 1:28.2 before keeping her pocket rival a nose at bay for a 1:57.3 score. Makemymommaproud (Allan Davis) finished third, 3-1/2 lengths behind.
Garey Jump trains Amelia Maximus, an Emeritus Maximus-Ellens Beach Babe filly with four career wins and $69,443 in the bank, for owner-breeder Katsiaryna Vaitsiakhovich-Jump. She paid $5.00 to win as the 3-2 favourite.
Three-year-old male pacers will kick off their DSBF series on at Bally's Dover with a trio of $20,000 USD first-round splits: one conducted as a non-wagering event at 4:10 p.m. EST and the other two at the top of a 15-race pari-mutuel card due to commence at 4:30 p.m.
Incaseyoudidntknow overcame strong winds and welcomed a drop in class to win the $17,000 winners-over feature for pacing mares at Dover on Wednesday night.
Driver Jim Morand and 1-9 favourite Incaseyoudidntknow left stubbornly along the pylons and forced the field to take seats approaching the quarter pole.
Incaseyoudidntknow raced confidently on the engine and set fractions of :26, :56 and 1:24.2. Lous Lucky Girl (Montrell Teague) raced first-over up the backstretch followed by the second-over Kissin Joe (Ross Wolfenden). Those bids stalled approaching the top of the stretch as Incaseyoudidntknow drew off to win by 5-1/2 lengths in 1:53.2. Doing Marvelous (Anthony Morgan) circled stalled cover from third-over to finish second; Got The Gold (Corey Callahan) was third.
Incaseyoudidntknow, a six-year-old Always B Miki-In Deep Thought mare, is trained by Les Gives and owned by James Magno and Joseph Fonte. She paid $2.10 to win.
Tim Tetrick scored four driving wins on the card. Morand and Corey Callahan recorded driving triples.
Thursday’s (Dec. 5) feature is the $25,000 USD Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace, featuring I Did It Myway and Itsrockandroll A. First post for the 15-race pari-mutuel card is 4:30 p.m.
