Dismissed at 9-1, Trustworthy Kid peeled off cover around the final turn and blazed widest through the lane to capture Friday’s $18,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Away fifth, Trustworthy Kid followed the live first-over cover of Tamarind. When Brian Zendt asked him for trot approaching the stretch, the six-year-old SJs Caviar-Penn Worthy Lane gelding zipped by and downed Tamarind by a length in 1:54.3. The pocket-sitting Ladys Dude completed the ticket.
Walter “Boots” Dunn trains the homebred Trustworthy Kid, who now boasts $330,302 in career earnings, for Dunn Stable.
Dave Palone collected four wins and Aaron Merriman three on the 15-race card.
