Two of Canada's top teamsters hit major milestones during the Saturday afternoon card of racing at Flamboro Downs

.

Paul MacKenzie kicked off the day on the right foot with his 7,000th career win in the first race aboard 16-1 shot Willow Glyn.

MacKenzie is perennially one of Canada's top dash winning drivers, and 2010 is no exception. The Puslinch, Ont. resident ranks eighth best in Canada with 359 tallies and and boasts more than $38 million in career earnings.

With his second win of the card, driver Scott Zeron joined an elite group of young gun drivers who have reached the 1,000 win plateau.

In just his fourth season of racing, the 21-year-old Oakville resident joined the 1,000-win club after a wire-to-wire win with Spiritinhereyes, holding off a late surge by CMR Bresha to achieve the milestone victory.

Zeron, who turned 21 in May, joins Jordan Stratton, Walter Case Jr., and Matt Kakaley as the only drivers to reach 1,000 wins prior to turning 22. Doug McNair will likely join that group by the end of the year and will be the youngest in harness racing history to hit the 1,000 win plateau.

With 570 of his 1,000 wins recorded this year, Zeron sits atop the Canadian leaderboard and has cracked the top 10 for earnings with more than $4.2 million banked.
