Shes Pukka N Dominates Dover Dames

Shes Pukka N ($9.20) withstood steady early pressure and pulled away late in the featured $16,000 Fillies and Mares Select Handicap Pace on Wednesday (Dec. 30) at Dover Downs.

Tony Morgan left with Shes Pukka N from post 7, and the pair took no prisoners — parking VH Princess Brea through a :54.4 half mile. Nearing three-quarters, Anytime N circled three-wide as VH Princess Brea tired, but her attempt was in vain. After clicking off three-quarters in 1:23.3, Shes Pukka N remained stubborn in the stretch and won convincingly by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:52. Edge Of Eternity (Art Stafford Jr.) sat the pocket and finished second over sophomore Feeling Sweet (Mike Cole).

Brian Malone trains Shes Pukka N, a five-year-old daughter of Betterthancheddar, for Peter Venturini.

Live harness racing returns to Dover Downs on Thursday night (Dec. 31) for a speecial New Year's Eve program. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
