Unseated Rider Costs Bettor $571K

A bettor was mere yards away from a $571,000 jackpot in the Rainbow Pick 6 at Gulfstream Park on Thursday afternoon (Dec. 28), when rider Emisael Jaramillo was unseated by clear leader Cryogenic not even three strides from the finish of the one-mile turf finale.

Jaramillo was taken to hospital after being trampled by trailing horses, but did not suffer any fractured bones, according to his agent Bryce Soth. As for the unlucky bettor, the consolation dividend for five winners was $1,935.52 on the 20-cent wager, which requires players to hold the lone ticket with six correct winners to receive the progressive jackpot.
