Trotting mare Thundering Ovation and pacer Twin B Legend were both repeat winners within the week as they prevailed in their respective Preferred 2 assignments on Monday, Dec. 30 at Western Fair Raceway.

Fresh off a victory in the Preferred 2 Trot held during Flamboro Downs' Boxing Day program, Thundering Ovation was back at it at Western Fair for trainer Gerald Sloan.

Sent postward as the 2-1 favourite, the four-year-old Thunder Road mare followed Santo Domingo (Doug McNair) through fractions of :28.3, :59.1 and 1:28.4 before sweeping by to win again in 1:59.4 with J.R. Plante catch-driving. CIS Buckeye (Alfie Carroll) rallied from third over to place while Amigo Loco (Robert Sparling Jr.) edged out the pacesetter for third.

The homebred mare is owned by Joanne and Courtney Sloan of Harley, Ont. She now has four wins in 14 starts this year with the lion's share of the $10,000 purse pushing her seasonal earnings to $28,670.

Last Monday's Preferred 2 Pace winner Twin B Legend eked out another close win at the London, Ont. oval in this week's $10,000 event for trainer Ron Adams.

With Doug McNair back in the sulky, the five-year-old Mach Three gelding rallied three-wide down the backstretch to take the lead at the third quarter mark and held off the from-last Royal Outlook (J.R. Plante) by a head for the season's best victory in 1:56 flat. Early leader Clic K (Tony Kerwood) finished nearly five lengths behind in third.

Overlooked at the betting windows, Twin B Legend paid $20.40 as the 9-1 fourth choice. Favourite Major Hottie (James MacDonald) faded to last after contested fractions of :27, :56.3 and 1:26.1.

Twin B Legend is now three-for-eight in 2013 for owners Vip Internet Stable LLC, David Rovine Stable LLC, Seafood Delight Stable, and Keith Pippi.

Monday's $6,500 Preferred 3 Trot was won by Cimeronken, a four-year-old Ken Warkentin gelding trained by Daryl Roberts for owner/breeder Denise Anderson of Mossley, Ont. Driver Alfie Carroll sent the favourite first over from fourth and held off Annabelle Rocks (Peter Otten) to win by half a length in 2:01.2.

Favourite Im Feelin Good romped to a 1:56 three and three-quarter length victory in the matching Preferred 3 for pacers with Tony Kerwood aboard for trainer Ben Wallace. The five-year-old Mr Feelgood gelding is owned by Brad Grant of Milton, Ont.
