Brimo’s Road To Recovery

“I’m coming back to ride. Definitely,” stated Sovereign Award winning jockey Julia Brimo just six weeks after sustaining an incomplete spinal injury that threatened to end

her career.

Triple Dead Heat reports that Brimo, who underwent neck surgery to fuse a broken vertebra, is now walking and on the road to recovery at Toronto Rehab’s Lyndhurst Centre.

While Brimo experiences stiffness in her shoulders and a lack of mobility in both hands, she maintains optimistic in pursuit of her end goal.

“The main thing I want to talk about is spinal cord injury and how if you’re positive and work hard you can overcome it and achieve your goals,” the 33-year-old Mississauga native was quoted as saying in the Triple Dead Heat story. “It’s not the end of the world. I know it’s easy for people to get down but all I can think about is riding again.”
