On Sunday (December 3) at Truro Raceway, the favoured Southwind Ricardo vaulted three-wide along the final turn and got up to post a one and three-quarter-length victory in 1:59.4 during the $1,575 Winners Over Pace.
The performance -- which led to a $4.90 return on every correct $2 win wager -- was one of four victories that driver Redmond Doucet engineered during the ten-dash program.
The Ronald Seymour Jr.-trained Southwind Ricardo started from Post 5 in the field of six and as fifth to the :28.3 opening quarter. He was second-over and pacing at the 58-second half before Doucet tipped him three-deep in the third panel. After having battled for the lead at the head of the lane, Southwind Ricardo persevered and went on to nail the wire first.
Seymour (of Glace Bay, NS) co-owns the four-year-old Dragon Again gelding along with Joel LeBlanc (Victoria Mines, NS).
Doucet's other Sunday victories came aboard Pictonian Speed ($10.00), Putnams Power ($6.00) and Dragons Power ($4.70).
