The Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corp. has announced plans to put an additional 1,000 slot machines at
Woodbine Racetrack. Currently there are about 2,000 machines on the slot floor.
Next week, Woodbine Entertainment Group will begin its required renovations to accommodate the additional machines. WEG’s construction responsibilities are expected to be completed over the next six to seven months.
Some of the changes will impact operations:
- Pari-mutuel operations will be moved out of Hoofbeats as of December 7, 2009. Horse racing customers will be asked to relocate to the Handicapper’s Corner on the third floor.
- For our racing operations, a new escalator will be installed adjacent to the Finish Line Bar. This will provide direct access from the second floor to the apron.
