In an article by The Plain Dealer, up and coming harness racing driver Matt Kakaley was quoted as saying that he does not foresee himself returning to Northfield Park unless the purses are increased

.

"I don't see myself going back to Northfield, unless they get the slots and the purses are pumped up," Kakaley said. "I can make a lot more money elsewhere. I enjoyed racing at Northfield Park, and it was a great place for me to start my career, but it's time for me to move on to bigger things."

Kakaley, 21, is in the process of wrapping up another solid campaign in the race bike. The young pilot has driven his mounts to over $2.2 million in purses this season. He has steered 469 horses to the winner's circle in '09 and currently has a universal driver rating of .344.

From 2,422 drives in 2008, Kakaley won 500 races, steered his mounts to over $1.5 million in purses and finished the season with a .336 UDR.
