Five months after making his most recent on-track appearance, sophomore pacing colt Nightime Dancer strutted his stuff during a Friday morning qualifying appearance on Dec. 29 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With Sylvain Filion at the controls, Nightime Dancer did all the work on the front end for his Friday morning assignment. After fractions of :28.2, :58.2 and 1:26.1, the pacer powered home in :28.2 — the fastest closing quarter of the session — for a 1:54.2 decision over the track rated 'good.' The next closest rival was Gator Hanover (Scott Young), nearly eight lengths in arrears.
Rod Boyd trains Nightime Dancer (Sunshine Beach - That Day) for owner 1187422 Ontario Inc. of Ottawa, Ont. The about-to-be four-year-old took his 1:51.2 record in a leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots at Mohawk on June 6.
