Regally-bred Breeders Crown winner D One has been retired and sold, and will commence her career as a broodmare for North American interests.
The daughter of world champions Donato Hanover and Giant Diablo -- each with sizzling 1:50.1 speed marks -- was sold by the Swedish fractional ownership group Stall Kenny for 3.3 million SEK or $360,000 USD. According to the stable, D One was purchased by Boko Stables' John Bootsman of The Netherlands and Hunterton Farm's Steve Stewart.
Now five, D One retires with a bankroll exceeding $1.3 million, a summary of 20-4-4 from 38 career starts and a mark of 1:51.3 taken at The Red Mile. Her 2015 campaign featured major stakes wins on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean -- winning the Fresh Yankee, Muscle Hill, Allerage Mare Trot in the U.S. and the Breeders Crown at Woodbine Racetrack. She was Sweden's trotting mare of the year in 2015.
D One reportedly will be bred to European star stallion Ready Cash in 2017 and then to North American standout Muscle Hill in 2018.
