Favourites prevailed in Tuesday’s $7,500 Preferred events at The Raceway at Western Fair District, with Insincerity rallying for a win in the Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers and Thundering Ovation wiring up her rivals in the Preferred 3 for trotters.

Insincerity kicked off the card with a come-from-behind score for driver Bob McClure in 1:59.1. Katherine B rolled through fractions of :28.1 and :59 before coming under attack by Insincerity. Those two battled past the three-quarter pole in 1:28.3 before Insincerity edged away. She kicked home in :30.2 to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Katherine B, with Miss Brandi K finishing third.

William Hamm of West Lorne, Ontario bred, owns and trains the 33-time winner who owns an 9-4-5 record from 30 starts this season. With just shy of $216,000 in lifetime earnings, Insincerity returned $4.20 to her backers.

Later on the card that mare's full-sister, Cant Stop, found her way to the winner's circle following a 1:59.1 triumph in an $8,000 conditioned event. Bob McClure guided her to the 1:59.1 score for trainer Tom Hamm and owner/breeder William Hamm of West Lorne, Ontario. It was a bittersweet night for the Hamm brothers whose father, Roger Hamm, passed away two days before Christmas.

Thundering Ovation struck gold in front-stepping fashion for the tandem of driver Paul MacKenzie and trainer Gerry Sloan. The OSS graduate led the group through intervals of :29.3, 1:00.4 and 1:30.2 before finishing off the competition with a :31-second closing panel. It was 1-1/2 lengths back to runner-up Winzel, with Brandon CS rounding out the Triactor ticket. The time for the mile was 2:01.2.

Breeder Joanne Sloan co-owns the 33-time winner with Courtney Sloan, and together the Harley, Ontario residents watched her boost her bankroll to $295,988 with the win. At the betting windows, Thundering Ovation returned a mere $3.10 to her backers.
