Copley Reaches Milestone At Rideau

Trainer Jamie Copley crossed a major milestone during Sunday’s card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, becoming the second Rideau Carleton Raceway-based trainer to surpass the one-million dollar mark in purse earnings

for the year. The first to accomplish the feat was Sherri Korniski during the 2001 racing season.

After sending out JK RU Bettor Yet to a breezing four-length win early in the card, Copley needed just $450 to cross the magic threshold. That barrier was broken in the seventh race when his pupil, My Old Friend John finished second. For good measure, Copley added one more winning score in the eleventh race with Art I Special.

The Greely, ON horseman, by way of Inverness Nova Scotia, now has $1,009,939 in purse earnings with one week left to go in the racing year and is a mathematical lock to win top trainer honours at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
