Peenie Prevails In Rideau Preferred

A change of scenery worked wonders for Peenie on Sunday night, as the Colin Johnson pupil had little problem disposing of seven pacing foes in Rideau Carleton Raceway’s $12,100 Preferred Pace

.

The four-year-old son of Real Artist had missed the board in each of his last five starts at Woodbine Racetrack, but he really came to life with the move to the five-eighths mile oval.

With Denis St. Pierre at the controls, Peenie sat third while Awestreos supplied an opening quarter clocked in :28.1. Peenie, who was sent off as the odds-on choice, quickly sprung into action and laid down middle panels of :58 and 1:26.3. He kicked home in :28.4 to win by more than five lengths in 1:55.2. Awestreos was second and Imjustalittleguy grabbed the show dough.

The black gelding races for the Quebec partnership of Furious Farms and Ecurie JGB Enrg. The victory was his 11th of the season and the 20th of his career. He has potted more than $161,000 in earnings this season, and that brings his career bankroll to $241,783.
