Roccos Cavallo Pulls Boxing Day Upset

Roccos Cavallo, with Mark Bradley in the bike, pulled off a 14-1 upset win with a strong performance to capture the Boxing Day feature at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park

Bradley placed Roccos Cavallo fifth at the opening quarter before moving fourth on the outside past the half. He then started to mix it up three-wide down the backstretch to secure the lead at the three-quarter pole. The son of Bandlands Hanover cruised to a five and a half length victory in 1:57.2 over the 'good' surface. The time of the mile was just one-fifth of a second off Roccos Cavallo's season's mark.

Tyler Desroches trains and co-owns the winner of nine races in 236 seasonal starts with Justin Desroches of Summerside, P.E.I.

Keystone Dimitri shook loose to finish second while Ultimate Yankee stayed in the hunt for third.

The win was Bradley's third of the day.

Napanee Seelster won the afternoon trot class in 2:02.3. Owner Danny MacDonald did the driving for his partners Bill Andrew of Calgary, Alta. and Philip Pitts of Cornwall, P.E.I. Duvar Road was second by a neck while Talk About Dreams was third.

Racing returns to Charlottetown on New Year's Eve. Post time is 7 p.m.
