After back-to-back near misses in the Preferred ranks at Rideau Carleton Raceway, Stonebridge Magnum drove away to an impressive victory

in Sunday’s $14,000 main event.

Gord Brown was paired up with the five-year-old son of The Panderosa, who was forced to deal with a first-over trip en route to the win. Stonebridge Magnum got away third before launching his uncovered bid against race leader Bentouttashape. Stonebridge Magnum used a :29.3 final quarter to propel himself to the 2-1/4 length decision over Peenie in a time of 1:55.4. Tyber King came on late to grab the third-place cheque.

Chance Stewart trains the chestnut pacer for owner Yves Sarrazin of La Presentation, QC. Since being claimed for $22,000 on November 28, Stonebridge Magnum has clicked for a 1-2-0 record in three starts while banking $14,000 along the way. Sunday’s victory was the 21st of his career, and it boosted his lifetime earnings to $179,360.
