The betting public was in love with Saulsbrook Jessie in Thursday’s $13,000, and the Ron MacDonald trainee wasn’t about to disappoint her army of pari-mutuel supporters.
Sent off as the 4-5 favourite in the seven-mare affair, Saulsbrook Jessie motored right to the lead for driver Brett MacDonald and together the led the group through fractions of :29.2, :59 and 1:28.1 before finishing them off with a :29.3 final frame. She won by a length over Celia Bayama in 1:57.4. Kickin Cowgirl was third.
