Officials with the Woodbine Entertainment Group have been busy behind the scenes collaborating on a pair of events that could see thousands of new faces show up at both Woodbine Racetrack and Mohawk Racetrack in 2016.

It has been announced that Night Nation Run, the world’s first running music festival, will be making a stop at Woodbine on July 23, 2016. Night Nation is describing the event as a five-kilometre musical voyage, filled with live music, lights, lasers, and celebration for the lover of Electronic Dance Music.

The full price for the event is $70, but the early-bird pricing special of $35 is in effect until Wednesday, December 23 at 11:59 p.m.

The event’s website explains that those that attend the event can ‘run, walk, skip or dance your way through [the] electrifying adventure with music carrying you every step,’ and that attendees will be taken ‘through an illuminated racecourse to multiple on-course DJ stages.’ The Night Nation Run website also states that the course will finish ‘with an explosive main stage after party featuring top EDM DJs and special guest celebrity performers.’

In regard to WEG’s initiatives for Mohawk, a story by The Orillia Packet & Times helps explain that the ‘Warrior Dash’ has enjoyed a nice five-year ‘run’ in Oro-Medonte Township, just outside of Barrie, but that the event will be coming to Mohawk Racetrack in Campbellville, Ont. in 2016.

Now, what is Warrior Dash, you ask?

According to the event’s website, Warrior Dash is a five-kilometre obstacle race that anyone can conquer. Whether you’re an elite athlete or just beginning the challenge, Warrior Dash will see participants take down 12 world-class obstacles like Goliath and Great Warrior Wall, leap over fire, and venture through mud-caked backroads as they make their way to the finish line.

Participants will be rewarded with a finisher medal, a t-shirt, a fuzzy warrior helmet and cool beverage. The event will also have a post-race party that will feature food, drinks, live music and much more.

A course map for the Warrior Dash appears below, followed by a promotion video from a few years ago. Some aspects of the course will be to the outside of the track’s final turn and backstretch.
