With the holidays on the cusp of kicking off, many people are scrambling around and digging in their wallets with hopes of turning up some extra scratch for last minute presents, groceries and many other things. Imagine this: you uncrease your wallet and find a cool $350,000 infusion

.

It probably didn't go quite like that for the lucky winner of Thursday's Black Gold 5 wager at New Orleans' Fair Grounds Race Course for thoroughbreds, but, at the end of the day, someone probably walked away a whole heck of a lot richer, nonetheless.

The Fair Grounds website explains that the whole-pool payoff of $315,119.45 for the exotic wager went to an individual that placed the bet in Las Vegas.

The Black Gold 5 requires a bettor to hold the lone successful ticket with the winners of five consecutive races. On cards when there is no single-ticket winner, half of the pool is paid as consolation to tickets with the most correct and half of the pool goes to the carryover. The Black Gold 5 carries a $.50 minimum and starts on Race 5 every day.

According to the track, the pool for the jackpot wager had carried over and swelled after 18 cards of racing. The winning horses, in order, starting in Race 5, were: Jilly From Philly ($7.20), Raised With Pride ($9.40), Shraded Edge ($47.40), Glamalert ($24.20) and Strong and Tough ($74.20).
