Greater Saint John Field House campaign Chair Bill MacMackin recently stated that $10 million has been raised to build a recreational sports centre adjacent to the Exhibition Park Raceway, and that building would begin in 2016 if he had his way.
Although, as an article by the CBC explains, the project still needs another $14 million. The piece states that applications have been submitted to both the provincial and federal government to cover the rest of the cost.
The article has stated that the project would 18 months to complete, and it has also quoted MacMackin as saying, "we would love to start building in 2016."
The proposal calls for a pair of ice pads and two multi-purpose indoor fields that could be used for track and field, soccer and lacrosse
