The 2012 driving title on the WEG circuit has been up for grabs for quite some time on the WEG circuit Jody Jamieson and Sylvain Filion engaged in a back-and-forth battle, but a five-win performance by Jamieson at Woodbine Racetrack on Friday evening gives him a serious leg up going into the final few programs of the season.
Jamieson clicked with Sauble Claire (1:54.2), Deliciouslynaughty (1:55.1), Continual Velocity (1:53.1), My Gal Mattie (1:55) and Lucky Encounter (1:54) during Friday’s 11-race card, and that pushed his WEG win total to 276 while Filion sits with 271.
The purse haul on Friday’s card also helped Jamieson become WEG’s first reinsman to eclipse $7 million in earnings this season. Filion is second in that category, as well, with earnings of just over $6.3 million.
There are five more cards of racing remaining at Woodbine this season, including Saturday’s 11-race program. Jamieson and Filion are each scheduled to have eight drives on the card.
