Live harness racing for 2024 at MGM Yonkers Raceway came to a conclusion on Friday night, Dec. 20, with Jason Bartlett and Per Engblom once again the leading driver and trainer, respectively.
Bartlett capped off his third straight and 13th overall driving crown at Yonkers in style, capturing eight of the 11 races on the program to give him a total of 454. He was followed by George Brennan (297 wins), Brent Holland (247), Matt Kakaley (218) and Jordan Stratton (212).
Engblom, who was tops in the trainer standings for the second consecutive season, had five triumphs on Friday to end up with 211 in all for 2024. Travis Alexander (166 victories) was next, with Scott Di Domenico (108), Ricky Bucci (101) and Ron Burke (100) coming in third through fifth.
Bartlett and Engblom combined during the season finale for wins with Bee Okay A ($5.60), Awesome Hill ($4.30), Tonys Mom ($3.50), Atreachersous A ($7.80) and Bellissimo Face S ($6.10).
Pending final approval by the New York State Gaming Commission, the 2025 meet will begin at Yonkers on Monday, Jan. 20. To start the year, live racing will be held on Monday through Friday nights with post time at 7 p.m.
