Trainer-driver Lorne House hustled 13-1 shot Pembrook Legacy N off the wings from the outermost post and went all the way going the added distance in the $11,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday (Dec. 21).
House landed the eight-year-old Bettors Delight gelding on the point before a :27.1 first quarter with J J Powerball settling into the pocket. Slowing the tempo to a :56.4 half, Pembrook Legacy N continued to cruise into the backside as favourite Hes Got Swagger made gains uncovered to apply a minor challenge to the pacesetter at three-quarters in 1:26.4. Pembrook Legacy N easily turned away that foe to the final turn and swung for home on a confident lead while J J Powerball gave chase to finish second in the 2:02.3 event by 1-1/4 lengths. Mr Mach Jimmy rallied to finish third another three lengths behind with Hes Got Swagger settling for fourth.
Owned by Samuel Taylor, Pembrook Legacy N won his first race from 16 starts this season and his ninth from 44 overall, pushing his earnings to $75,438. He paid $28.60 to win.
