Sicily Sizzles At Dover; Five For Tetrick

Overlooked at odds of 6-1, Sicily executed a 1:48.4 winning mile to take Thursday’s $25,000 Open Pace at Dover Downs.

Montrell Teague piloted Sicily to his third win of the meet, two sub-1:49 conquests. He also has four second-place finishes. Os Cruise (Tim Tetrick) one of two three-year-olds in the eight-horse field, finished second with Major Uptrend (Tony Morgan) third..

Wayne Givens trains the five-year-old Art Major-Capri Hanover gelding for Reggie Hazzard and Legacy Racing of Delaware, who won for the eighth time this year while earning $115, 844. His career bankroll is $354,667.

Tim Tetrick celebrated a five-win performance on the Thursday evening card, and it all started with Sometimes Said (1:51) in Race 4. He came right back to take Race 5 with Dont Ya Know (1:52.1) followed by a triumph in Race 6 with Cyclone Kiwi N (1:51.1). He then took Race 9 with Little Ben (1:50.3) and capped off his big night at the office with a win behind Baileys Rock N (1:50.4) in Race 11.

It’s now 530 wins and counting on the season for the New Jersey-based horseman who is just shy of $12 million in purse earnings on the season. Recently joining the 10,000-win club, Tetrick has racked up career purse earnings in excess $190 million.
