Big M's Toy Drive A Success

It has been a trying time in the northeastern United States in the recent weeks. With reminders of Hurricane Sandy all around and the recent tragedy in Connecticut, The Meadowlands Racetrack and Winners Bayonne are happy to take part in an uplifting event this holiday season.

For the past week, employees and customers alike donated toys to be given to those children less fortunate. The event, 'Toys For Tots' was a resounding success, with over 150 toys donated.

Meadowlands Racetrack General Manager Jason Settlemoir was thrilled with the response.

“I am so pleased with the turnout we had,” said Settlemoir. “The holiday season is all about family and helping others that are less fortunate. To be able to make a child’s Christmas just a little bit better, it’s just the right thing to do. Our chairman, Jeff Gural, has always placed a premium on giving back and helping others, and this is no exception.”

Considering the success of the event, The Meadowlands and Winners Bayonne are hoping to turn 'Toys For Tots' into an annual event around the holidays.

The Meadowlands Racetrack and Winners Bayonne will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with simulcasting returning on Wednesday, December 26 and live racing kicking off Friday, December 28 with first-race post time at 7:15 p.m.
