Jessesjo worked out a cozy pocket trip, then blew by the hard-luck Rembrandt Spur in the Lightning Lane to capture Wednesday's $22,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows for his second straight victory
.
Although Rembrandt Spur led the field through a comfortable :58 first half, he couldn’t hold off Jessesjo, who surged for Dave Palone and scored by two lengths in 1:55.1 over a sloppy surface. Rembrandt Spur edged Diamond Hunter for second, giving him his fourth consecutive place finish.
Ron Burke trains Jessesjo, a four-year-old Jailhouse Jesse-Boston Blaze gelding, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. It was one of four wins on the 14-race card for Palone.
